Hot Rolling

Hot Rolling is a process that passes metal heated at elevated temperatures between two rolls to flatten and lengthen the metal. SPS manufactures the following products to increased productivity and reduce downtime in a hot rolling mill:

1. Refractory Coating :

Energy saving in furnace operations is enabled by a special refractory coating manufactured by SPS. The refractory lining life is increased due to application of ESPON refractory coating, which enhances thermal shock resistance of refractory lining. Increased emissivity of refractory lining due to application of refractory coating enables faster heat up time of furnaces and longer retention of heat inside furnace, even after shutting off furnace. It also leads to reduced fuel consumption. Fortifying of refractory lining with refractory coating substantially increases refractory lining life and reduces frequent maintenance downtime of furnace.

ESPON-TAP PASTE tapping lubricant is used for difficult to tap materials like stainless steel, nickel base alloys, aluminium alloys, ceramic tiles, etc. ESPON-TAP PASTE is usually used for tap sizes above 10 mm.

2. Anti scale compound

ESPON-HR anti scale compound is used for coating the billets or blooms before charging them into the re-heating furnace for hot rolling. Brushing, dipping or spraying method may be used for coating.
